T.J. Girardeau of the Houston Journal was the fifth president. He was a charter member of the association and was elected president in 1885. He retired from the business soon after his election and J.H. “Cyclone” Davis of Sulphur Springs completed his term of office.
He was one of the editors of the Houston Post. Girardeau died in 1887.
