El Paso ‘award’ to call attention to secrecy
The city of El Paso received dubious recognition Monday when it was named one of five finalists for a national journalism group's award meant to call attention to excessive government secrecy.
The “Golden Padlock Award” has been presented annually by Investigative Reporters and Editors to call attention to "the most secretive government agency or individual in the United States," according to an IRE news release.
