The Lufkin News is seeking an experienced, self-motivated reporter to cover city and county government in Angelina County. This position also handles business, health care and general assignments. The ideal person makes daily beat reporting look effortless, so he or she can free time for enterprise writing and in-depth feature coverage on topics and in a style that bring interest and relevance to our news coverage. Ideal candidate should have a journalism degree and at least two years of newspaper experience. The candidate must work well under pressure and have the ability to meet tight deadlines, yet be flexible enough to adjust to changing situations.

The Lufkin News is a 12,500-circulation daily newspaper nestled between four national forests in Deep East Texas. Nearby rivers and reservoirs provide endless opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. The position offers paid vacation and sick time, 401(k) and health benefits. A college degree in journalism and experience at a daily or weekly newspaper is preferable.
