ROBERT BRUCE ALSOBROOK

PARIS – Robert Bruce Alsobrook, who started his journalism career with his family newspaper in Paris and later worked for the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram for many years, died Sept. 1. He was 63.

A native of Paris, Alsobrook worked for the Paris Shopper, owned by his parents Bob and Jackie Alsobrook, as well as at the Paris News while a high school student.

He studied at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M Commerce, earning a bachelor of journalism in 1989. He began working as a reporter for the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram. He was promoted to managing editor in 2001 and later became editor of the Town and Country magazine.

His editorials and articles earned several Associated Press awards, including the Freedom of Information Award for investigative journalism.

He married Elizabeth Blanton in 1990. She preceded him in death in 2022.

He is survived by three children, three grandchildren and other relatives.

Private graveside services were held.
