3 Chord Rodeo set to perform for convention hospitality event

An Austin band with deep roots in vintage country music, 3 Chord Rodeo, is featured entertainment for the TPA Convention and Trade Show hospitality event on Friday evening, June 2.

The annual convention and trade show is scheduled June 1-3 at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock.

The band performs regularly on the South and Central dance hall and club circuit  at venues such as The Broken Spoke, The Saxon Pub, Mercer Street Dance Hall, Guero’s Taco Bar Oak Garden, Bangers Sausage House and Beer Garden, The Little Longhorn Saloon, The Watering Hole Saloon (New Braunfels), Kendalia Halle, The Roundup Outdoor Music Venue in Boerne, Western Edge in Fredericksburg, and Leon Springs in San Antonio.

Musicians in the group are all veterans of the Austin, Nashville and California music scenes. The band was created in 2012 by longtime Austin friends and musicians Bobby Dabbs (lead guitar) and Greg Scarborough (bass guitar and vocals). California native Lauren Ellis (steel, lead guitar and vocals) joined the band shortly after moving to Austin from Nashville, where she toured with Rita Coolidge, Rosie Flores, Rick Trevino and former Monkee Peter Tork.

Rounding out the band is Austin native Bill Mansell (drums.) He has performed with Jubal Clark (Willie’s Picnic ‘79), Bill Carter, The Desires, The Lift, Lou Ann Barton, the Argyles and Jake Penrod. In addition, Nashville sideman and Austin resident Brent Wilson (rhythm guitar) sometimes join the band on stage. Wilson’s resume includes appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and working with such country music legends as Johnny Bush, Charlie Louvin and Austin’s Wagoneers. Earl Poole Ball (piano) and Jon Kemppainen (fiddle) are also regular guest performers.
